Freddie Dean
Freddie Dean is the owner and barber of House of Dean. Freddie has spent their career learning, practicing and developing their craft and knowledge on traditional barbering styles and services. They directed their focus to folks who fell outside the definition of "traditional" barbershop clientele, leading them to build a diverse range of clients. Freddie Dean has been actively advocating for their local 2SLGBTQIA+ community from an early age and continues to break the binaries of hair industry practices and push boundaries on what a strong barbershop clientele looks like.
Freddie has 10 years of experience barbering and is a Scumbassador for the brand Reuzel. They decided to open their own shop to create a safe place for their clients and community, as well as, educate new talent and committed professionals in the art of barbering.
Break the Binary
House of Dean launched Break the Binary in 2025 with the intent to raise awareness about binary practices and stereotypes within the hair and beauty industry. The first Break the Binary event brought together 2SLGBTQIA+ professionals in the hair, beauty and beauty-adjacent industries to allow them to connect with each other and give the community an opportunity to seek out safe space providers for services that can come with additional anxiety for some folks.
Since then, Break the Binary has launched two haircut programs with local organizations to provide access to safe space, nonjudgmental services to folks who may not have the means to seek out services.
Quest Community Health Center - Gender-affirming cuts for youth; Youth and other clients embarking on their journey to self discovery can inquire with their Quest provider about arranging a complimentary haircut service at House of Dean.
Start Me Up Niagara - Haircut Program; House of Dean provides regularly scheduled haircut services for Start Me Up clients on the second Monday of every other month. If you would like to take advantage of these services; please contact Start Me up directly. Our next scheduled service date is Monday September 28th 2026 at 9am.
